Frequently asked questions

Yes — always. Every job starts with a test patch in a discreet area before any full treatment begins. This lets us verify the laser parameters, confirm the result is what you expect, and ensure there are no unexpected surface reactions. We won't proceed to the full surface until the test patch is inspected and approved.
In many cases, yes. Laser energy parameters can be tuned to the absorption characteristics of a specific layer. Different paint types, colours and ages absorb laser energy at different rates, which allows selective ablation. We test first to confirm the result before treating the full area.
Laser cleaning is generally considered the safest method for heritage surfaces and is accepted by heritage conservation authorities in many cases. We have experience working on heritage-listed properties in Melbourne and can provide documentation for approval processes. Always confirm requirements with your local council or heritage authority before commencing works.
Most hard surfaces are suitable. Surfaces with very high reflectivity (polished bare aluminium, certain mirrors) can be problematic. Some fragile or porous heritage materials require extremely low power settings. We assess each job individually — if a surface isn't suitable, we'll tell you before you commit.
Treatment speed depends on the surface area, contaminant type and layer thickness. A standard single-component job takes 2–4 hours. Industrial batch work is quoted by area. We provide an estimated duration with every fixed-price quote.
Generally, no. We bring all equipment and handle the surface as we find it. For access reasons it helps if the area is clear and accessible. For industrial jobs we may request that components are presented in a certain way — we'll discuss this during the quote stage.
Fill in the form above with your name, contact details, service type, location, and a description of the surface and problem. Clear photos are very helpful. We'll respond within one business day. For larger jobs we may arrange a brief site visit before providing a final price.
